2020 Series

The Minority Informed Series features workshops, education, networking, and Q&A sessions for minorities, women, and veterans in small business, in order to help them grow and succeed. This series is proudly presented by the Pikes Peak SBDC in partnership the Minority Business Office, and in collaboration with the local chambers for women, minorities, and veterans.

This series is open to all! We encourage anyone to attend...the more diverse the better!

5/14: Implementing Diversity & Inclusion in Your Small Business

This training will focus on the basics of Diversity and Inclusion, helping attendees have a better understanding of what it means, why it is important, and some simple techniques and strategies to take back to their workplace to help improve D & I.

7/9: Emotional and Cultural Intelligence: Essential Tools for Business in 2020

Presenter: Tamara Moore, ReLevel LLC

The pace, unpredictability and complexity of change is causing stress and burnout within businesses today. Adding the tools of emotional and cultural intelligence allow businesses and individuals to show up internally prepared for today’s employment and customer service challenges.

Emotional intelligence involves being sensitive to and perceptive of other people’s emotions and having the ability to facilitate improved performance based on this knowledge. Studies show emotional intelligence is responsible for over half of job performance. Participants will learn a flexible set of skills that can be acquired and improved with practice.

In our global economy, the ability to interact effectively across cultures is a fundamental job requirement. You will be introduced to a universal set of techniques and people skills that will allow you to adapt quickly to and thrive in any cultural environment.
