Creative Businesses (Courses for Creatives)

Together with the Pikes Peak Arts Council (PPAC), Pikes Peak SBDC offers a variety of free and low-cost interactive workshops each year to help emerging and established artists with comprehensive, arts-focused training, information, and business skills.

With support from Colorado Creative Industries (CCI), this partnership brings together both organization’s missions to help artists on a path to greater sustainability and self-sufficiency.

Where do you start when it comes to funding, and what do you need to provide for people or organizations who will help fund you? Join us for this diverse panel, which includes experienced creatives who have successfully funded their projects, as well as organizations and funding institutions that have a successful history of funding creatives.  This is a special financing discussion specifically geared towards businesses in the creative industry.

9/15: The Art of Navigating the Law for Creatives

This interactive workshop will focus on common legal issues that creative professionals and entities encounter. We will cover the basics of intellectual property law and the legal aspects of running a creative business. We will also answer your questions, so come prepared with your burning legal issues. This is also an opportunity to learn more about CBCA’s Colorado Attorneys for the Arts referral service.

As a creative, how do you go about approaching venues to gain visibility by integrating your creative products into the community? What is the best way to approach a music venue, gallery, artist collective, and more? What are the different ways to go about it? What is the most professional way to reach out to venues? What are best practices and what are practices to avoid? How do you make your art and persona stand out from the crowd and become memorable while you’re applying? What can you learn from rejection and use it to succeed next time? Learn the answer to these questions and more!
