Dustin Kunkle joined the Pikes Peak SBDC team as the Office Manager in October 2015. Prior to the SBDC, Dustin helped to spearhead the development of Kairos Coffee House in Colorado Springs, while serving on the staff of a large local nonprofit with a focus on international social enterprise efforts.
After graduating from college, Kunkle spent several years living and working in China, first as the Events Director of Community Center Shanghai, and later as the owner and manager of Bowman’s American Ice Cream in Xining, China. Kunkle led the fledgling company through an extensive rebranding and restructuring process that resulted in many more happy Chinese customers that love American ice cream!
Kunkle is passionate to see the business dreams of others come to fruition. He thrives on working with and supporting entrepreneurial people and small businesses. With his experience in both entrepreneurship and management, he has a unique ability to relate with both visionaries and implementers in a variety of contexts.
Kunkle received his BA in Entrepreneurship from Grove City College. While in college, he won two Business Plan Competitions — one of which became a reality with the China ice cream business. Kunkle is happily married to his lovely wife Lauren and they have three sons — Grady, Miles and Trace.
